Q:Is Nursing a good major for a pre med student? I will be starting tmy undergraduate studies at a state school majoring in Nursing but really, my goal is to become a doctor and not a nurse. It's sorta like a back-up
I dated a girl during her last year of nursing school, it was pretty rough. Personally I think it is overkill if you goal is not nursing. If you are getting a BSN then it will probably require two years of pre-reqs and then two years in a dedicated nursing program. Those classes won’t include orgo or physics. Then, you will most likely have to take comprehensive licensing exams. At what point would you start studying for your MCAT? It isn’t a bad idea to have a back up plan, but I think this degree might take you more off course than you realize. If you don’t get into medical school you can always apply to a BSN program which at that point would require only two more years of work.
